Telephonics Awarded Contract for Passive Detection & Reporting Technology
Telephonics PDRS Technology
Press Releases on September 30, 2014
-
Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF), announced today that it has been awarded a new contract for its Passive Detection and Reporting System (PDRS) and will showcase this advanced technology at the Air Traffic Control Association’s 59th Annual Conference & Exposition being held in National Harbor, Maryland.
PDRS reduces radio frequency transmissions, all-calls and interrogation rates in air traffic by acting as a receive-only system and also by cueing a Mode S Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) interrogator. PDRS was designed to meet the stringent regulations of the Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Eurocontrol. It enables civilian and military air traffic controllers to maintain situational awareness as well as increase flight safety by receiving and displaying Mode S, Mode 5 and Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) squitters, or aircraft identification and data.
“Telephonics is extremely pleased to showcase our PDRS technology at ATCA as this advanced solution can help to significantly reduce interrogation rates and radio frequency transmissions, helping to improve air safety and increasing situational awareness,” said Mr. Joseph Battaglia, President & CEO of Telephonics.
