The Navy's Multi-Mission Helicopter Program Office (PMA-299) is modifying (4) MH-60S and (4) HH-60H aircraft to medical transport helicopters in support of the Global War on Terrorism. TruLink will act as a cordless extension of the helicopter’s wired intercom system.
Currently, while on the ground, audio communications between the helicopter pilots and off-aircraft medics preparing a patient for transport and evacuation are restricted to supplemental handheld methods. TruLink eliminates this communication restriction by providing seamless hands-free, wireless communications to all members of the crew so medics can effectively perform their rescue operations.
The U.S. Navy has selected TruLink for the modification program based on the U.S. Army Air Warrior Program, where TruLink is being used as the U.S. Army AWIS (Aircraft Wireless Intercom System).
“Our deployed medical units are performing critical life-saving missions world-wide. We commend the Navy’s proactive actions to equip themselves with a communication system that that will ensure the safety of our medical teams and the proper care of patients during these life-saving missions” states Phil Nicholas, President, Telephonics Communication Systems Division.
